2009 Eastern Conference Champs!

2009 Eastern Conference Champs!

‘20090506-IMG_2634’ courtesy of ‘avanluven’ And well-deserved. Back in February, who would’ve thought this Penguin team would be repeat contenders for the Stanley Cup? I’ll admit I had my doubts, but I was pretty confident the Penguins would go far. And far they did. Not bad for a team whose mascot is a flightless bird.

‘On The Ice’ courtesy of ‘brookeBAMF’ I really, really wanted to do up a preview of the Eastern Conference Finals between the sixth seed Carolina Hurricanes and those pesky upstart fourth-seeded Penguins. Especially since Game 1 opens tonight at the Igloo. Alas, I don’t have the time. I realize many people don’t know the extent …

Cry Me (Three) Rivers, Teddy…

Caps owner – and, coincidentally, the single person in the Caps organization I do not like – Ted Leonsis bitched today in his blog about the back-to-back games between Game 4 (tonight in Pittsburgh) and Game 5 (tomorrow in DC). “It is a shame that both teams will have to play back to back games …

‘Ovechkin and Malkin, Friends at Last, Friends at Last’ courtesy of ‘clydeorama’ [Note: Normally I don’t cross-post from my stuff at WeLoveDC. But I’m in a bind today, writing-wise, and while I’d like to have a more Penguins-centric and snarky article dissing the Caps, I’m going to instead opt to just reprint my article from …

‘Ovechkin and Crosby – New Best Friends Forever’ courtesy of ‘clydeorama’ It’s official: Penguins and Capitals in Round 2. I’ll have more to say on this later in the week, but suffice that right now? I AM STOKED. This is the playoff series I’ve always loved and was hoping for this year. Even if it …

To understand the author is to understand the book that much more. It’s less a cohesive treatise on any particular point – and if you’re looking for a “top ten” list based on the title, you’ll be sorely disappointed. As Paul stated, “It’s a book title, folks, not to be taken literally. Of course I don’t mean everything, just most things. And ‘you’ really means we, as in all of us.”

My freelance boss for CGL is Herb Beas. He’s the Line Developer for the BattleTech license and a great guy. Overworked like no-one else I know, yet he handles it with…well, sarcasm and a wit sharp enough to not just kill sacred cows, but spit them over a raging fire until they’re juicy and medium …

Fleury Slows it Down, courtesy of clydeorama Tonight, the Stanley Cup Playoffs begin. Tonight, the real NHL season kicks off. Tonight, the Penguins collide with the Flyers. A battle for Pennslyvania. And probably the most intense matchup in the entirety of the first round, East or West. Looking at the stat sheets, Pittsburgh and Philadelphia …

The official press release goes out tomorrow, but I’ve got permission to post the news here a little early… I’ve inked my first novel deal with IMR. It’s set in the BattleTech: Dark Age era, slated for Summer 2010 release. Working title? …

Bread Line? Not For Me, Thx

In case you didn’t know or hadn’t heard, I was downsized on March 4. Yep, no full-time job at the moment. But that’s okay. (Your sentiment is still appreciated, however.) The last two weeks have been quite the flurry of activity. Basically, hit up all my contacts – and surprisingly to me, I have a …
